FAQ
What equipment will I need?
For a complete list of recommended equipment, click here.
Is any equipment provided by the league?
If your child is new to the sport you may be in need of some equipment. If you are uncertain of their interest level, you may not want to invest in all of the equipment just yet. The league has a small amount of loaner gear that is available for new players on a first come, first serve basis. Unfortunately, there is not enough for everyone. Returning players must provide all equipment (except for extra gear required for goalies). When requesting loaner gear, please email us.
Does the league offer any clinics throughout the year?
A new player Try Lax skill clinic is held for FREE for new players to check out the game in late fall or winter, for details please email us.
Typically, the Spartans Youth Lacrosse program will offer a paid indoor skills-based clinic during the winter off-season for all players. Additionally, a donation based outdoor summer clinic is offered to all players.
When does the season start?
Spring season starts INDOORS mid-March. Indoor practices are held once a week. Once the fields are open, typically after April school break, practices move outdoors and will be once or twice a week depending on age of the players. Days/times of these practices will likely differ from those of the indoor times. Indoor times will be posted and announced by mid-February. Outdoor times/locations by mid-March. The season also typically runs from mid-March through mid-June depending upon game and tournament schedules.
Are games played against in-town teams or travel?
All boys' and girls’ youth lacrosse games are scheduled against teams in other towns requiring travel.
Can I play up a level rather than with my grade level?
The Spartans Youth Lacrosse program follows the US Lacrosse guidelines for player segmentation (boys & girls)- generally by date of birth and grade affiliation- ensuring a safe, sustainable, fair, developmentally appropriate, and FUN playing experience for all young players, K-8th grade. We do not encourage moving players up in level of play with youth recreational lacrosse. Please email us with any questions regarding level of play.
Can I help with the Spartans Youth Lacrosse?
HELP is always needed for countless activities such as coaching, fundraising, public relations- including website, email blasts & social media, as well as joining the Board of Directors, etc. For more information about how you might join our growing team, please email us.
Do we play in tournaments?
The registration fee includes participation in one(1) to two(2) tournaments or jamborees during the Spring season. These really FUN events can draw teams throughout different parts of the State. Typically, they are half or full day events with three to four, 25-30 minute games.
